NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK
Blockhead or not
Now with NKOTB coming to Sydney I have decided to go watch their concert. Why you would ask.....a 30 year old guy going to watch a group of 35-40 year old has beens.
In real life I would say "I'm taking my wife and my sister" but in reality I'm taking myself, those who come along come to make it more entertaining.
No I don't have hidden Broke back mountain thoughts, nor do I have a fetish for boy bands.
Simple truth is there music touched me as a child. How so, well unlike these new artist of today, they sang about the simple love of teenage youth. The Step one - we can have lots of fun, the Step two - theres so much we can do, the Step three - its just you and me, the step four - I can give you more and the step five - don't you know that the time has arrived. Fast forward to todays music at step two its already "when do we screw" and at step Three its" your girlfreind you and me."
Songs have lost there innocense and gone are the days of "the third and your fourth kiss I don't wanna miss", because we are already at the stage of "smack that get on the floor smack that till you get sore."
NKOTB represented wholesome young love, touched by innocense and the simple love where the person meant something to you and she/he would be "loving you foerever" and you referred to your Girlfriend as your "covergirl" or "my favorite Girl" or simply "my valentine girl." Now its my boo, my bitch, my ho, my booty call.
Even there new album release last year, was more wholesome that most out there, with songs like Summertime and Single, echoing themes of days gone by. And whilst they also wanna give you "full service" and have you "dirty dancing" they have promised the fans that they will sing al the songs of old as they still are the same old New kids on the block, its just the Block has changed.
And while is sit/stand watching their concert I'll be reminicing my schooldays when I scerenaded my first GF with "i'll be loving you" or sweeping the house on a saturday morning listing to Video hits and using the broom to dance "Hangin tough." After the show i will sing "Tonight" to my wife and drive home to the beats of "Call it what you want" and before I sleep letting my wife know that my life changed "Since you walked into my life."
That is what New Kids on the Block are to me. So "no more games" go out and buy there Greatest hits and sing along with no shame and remember days gone by and think "I can't believe its over"
And its now nearly "2 in the morning" and i'm back to being a "Grown Man" now and i'll sign off with "Click Click Click"
Don't forget to rate this page and get there new CD and rate that and come back and tell me what you think.
